The Obion County Emergency Communications District (E-911) was established by a county-wide referendum in March 1988. The 911 Dispatch Center located at 426 South Home Street, Union City, Tennessee, went live in February 1991, and the operations center exists in that location now. In September 2005, the City of Union City donated the building occupied by 911 to the Emergency Communications District, and the building was renovated in 2007. On March 31, 2008, dispatch operations moved to the renovated area of the facility, and a new entrance to the building on the Howard Street side is now the main entrance. The second phase of renovation was completed in 2010.
